Pioneer Music and Dance
- Invite a real live pioneer farmer to your facility to talk to your children about pioneer entertainment.
- The pioneer will demonstrate some musical instruments of his
time, and teach the participants some barn dances, accompanied with
live fiddle and bagpipe music.
Meet The Pioneer Farmer
- Invite a real live pioneer farmer to your facility to talk to your children about life as a settler.
- This authentic "first-person" character is dressed in period
costume, and participants are encouraged to ask him questions.
- The pioneer will show them some of his farm tools, and teach them a barn dance, accompanied with live fiddle music.
Medieval Music and Dance
- Invite a real live Peasant into your facility to talk to your children about Medieval entertainment.
- The Peasant will demonstrate some musical instruments of his
time, and teach participants some Medieval dances, accompanied with
live fiddle and bagpipe music.
Meet The Medieval Peasant
- Invite a real live Peasant into your facility to talk to your children about how 90% of the population lived in Medieval Times.
- This authentic "first-person" character is dressed in period costume, and participants are encouraged to ask him questions.
- The Peasant will show them some of his farm tools, and teach them a Medieval dance with live music on the bagpipes.
Traditional Celtic Music and Dance
- The fiddle, bagpipes, and possibly other musical instruments are demonstrated and explained for the children.
- Participants are taught some fun, simple traditional dances from
the British Isles, and then dance them to live bagpipe or fiddle music.
Schedule
- Sheffield Museum school programmes can be
brought into your school on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays (Wednesdays
may be made available if necessary.)

More than one class may be
accommodated during a typical hour-long programme, and more than one
programme can be presented in one day.
Requirements for Dancing
- Students
are divided into groups of about 10. For younger children (below 9 years)
a responsible supervisor is needed to assist
each group.

A large space is best
for presentations with dancing. If such a space is not available indoors, the dancing may be left out, or it can
be done outdoors in good weather.
Cost
- For each class of up to approximately 30 children: $125.00
- For groups larger than 30, $4.00 per child.
- A small travel charge of approx. 20 cents per km (round trip) will apply. See examples below:
